MARIS TM30 TWIN SCREW EXTRUDER : BETWEEN LABORATORY AND PRODUCTION

F.lli Maris Spa are pleased to introduce into its program, the corotating twin screw extruder TM30. This extruder is suitable both for laboratory activity and for production work, where a high degree of flexibility and an operator friendly layout are requested.

The features of this machine are so that it is possible to accurately study the formulation and process aspects in many applications: from masterbatch to hot-melt, to technopolimers and to rubber, etc.

The needs of process technologists who are interested in drawing indications on the influence of the process parameters on the morphological and phisico-chemical characteristics of the studied compounds are thus fully satisfied.

The Maris TM30 offers exactely the same characteristics of the bigger size extruders form the quality, manufacturing, and operating point of view. In this way the same results as larger machines are reproduced at a smaller scale, both from the behaviour and the performance perspectives.

MECHANICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF MARIS TM30 EXTRUDER

One of the most important aspects of this equipment is its flexibility in as much as the machine will allow fast changes of configuration of the process parts as the characteristics of the raw materials introduced and of the type of process changes.

This can be done easily by means of interchangeable and modular mechanical components (barrels and screws) without requiring the presence of specialized maintenance technicians.

The gearbox is lubricated in oil bath. The barrels are both heated and cooled down separately, in order to enable the operator to stabilize the required temperature and therefore to build the necessary thermal profile. The cooling is operated by a closed loop circuit starting from a main distributor, connected to the heat exchanger group, and delivering the water separately to each single barrel.

The construction materials of barrels and screws can be chosen among a wide range of nitrited, anti wearing and anti corrosion steels. The mechanical type clutch guarantees the required safety protection to the screws, gearbox and motor.

The basic screw geometry is self cleaning and two lobes design, with interchangeable and modular elements.

ELECTRICALS AND CONTROL FEATURES

The electrical cabinet includes the main motor drive, ancillary motors drives with relevant protections, main switch, electrovalves and transformers, the PCand PLC racks.

The operator panel is usually mounted on the cabinet door, with an industrial keyboard as operator interface.

THE PROCESS

The Maris TM20LAB co-rotating twinscrew extruder is suitable to perform the same processes which can de realized on the industrial extruder, like for instance:

-compounding

-technopolymers

-polymeric alloys

-reactive modification of the polymers

-hot-melt

-masterbatch of pigments and/or additives

-recycling

-rubber

-reduction of the content of monomers and/or solvents

-dewatering
