TM-M series extruders allow these processes to reach the maximum quality level and a very good productivity vs. price ratio.
Maris presents the new HT Series of Extruders, which represents the experience gained from more than 50 years of working in this specific field.
This Line of machine is characterized by innovative technological solutions, which have allowed the use of very high power.
Pioneering solutions have also been applied to the compounding resulting in special new screw profiles to produce not only very high quality compounds, but also an increase in output up to 100%.
More flexibility, more throughput, more competitiveness.
To the above market requests Maris answers proposing a new TM extruder HS series, characterized by a D/d ratio 1,65, with a maximum screws speed of 1300 rpm. The torque has been increased of more than 20%, with respect to the HT series.
This solution allows to use a bigger free volume, and an enhanced available torque, permitting a production increasing, either in case of high power request or when it is necessary to feed elevated percentage of fillers and/or additives.
Thanks to the most performing materials used to manufacture some of the elements composing the extruder, these machines can be applied in the more advanced compounding and reactive extrusion processes.
Maris co-rotating twin-screw extruders of VM series have been designed to increase the performances, for those processes which require, particularly, big quantities of soft fillers, mainly having low bulk density or long residential time (reactive processes) or efficacy removal of volatile components (solvents and monomers) present even in high percentages.
Characterized by a ratio D/d of 1,78 and a maximum screws rotation speed of 1800 rpm, the specific torque value applied with respect to the cubed screws inter-axle, and the consequent advantages are:
Series at high torque, designed to increase the output in the process in which the limit is the torque.

One of the most interesting aspects of the TM20 Hi-Tech is the flexibility, which allows fast changes of configuration with respect to the raw materials introduced and the type of process. This can be easily done thanks to interchangeable and modular mechanical components, which do not require the intervention of specialized mechanical technicians.
The machine has been designed and manufactured for laboratory purposes, it is highly noiselessness and therefore it is suitable for environments other than the industrial ones, such as educational and research structures.
The gearbox is lubricated in oil bath. The barrel cooling is operated by a closed loop water circuit which, starting from a main distributor, cools separately each single part and it is heated by means of electrical resistances. The construction materials of barrels and screw elements can be chosen among a wide range of nitrited, anti-corrosion and anti-wearing steel. The screw geometry is self-cleaning and two lobes design.
Maris TM20 Hi-Tech co-rotating twin-screw extruder is suitable to verify and analyze all processes which have to be realized on industrial scale on the production lines, such as:
During the last years, the number of trials at Maris Technological Centre has been constantly growing. Such trials are generally carried out in cooperation with the technicians and researchers of the different compounding sectors, namely techno-polymers, reactive extrusion, hot-melt, rubbers etc. A fundamental aspect for the good result of the trials is to analyze both the chemists’ necessity who study the formulation aspects (feasibility with small quantities of raw materials and easy changeover of machine configuration) and the needs of the process technologists, who are interested in getting indications on the influence of the process parameters concerning the morphological and physic-chemical characteristics of the modified compounds. In both cases, it is of utmost importance to monitor the process parameters in order to elaborate an energy balance and a first, even though approximate, estimate of the scale up. The TM20 Hi-Tech is the synthesis of 50-years Maris experience in co-rotating twin-screw extruders manufacturing and it satisfies the above-mentioned requirements. It follows perfectly the actual industrial tendencies, which transfer to the production the experiences carried out in the laboratory. The TM20 Hi-Tech extruder has been designed and manufactured for research activity, featuring at the same time the quality, operational and performance characteristics typical of production equipments, so that it can reproduce, in a reduced scale, the behaviors and the performances.
The electrical cabinet is located inside the supporting frame, in order to give to the TM20 Hi-Tech extruder a very compact design, according to the plug & play philosophy. It includes the driver device for the main motor speed regulation, the PLC, the ancillary motors drives with relevant protections, the transformers, the solid-state relays for the heating elements control, the relays for the electro valves control and the general main switcher with door interlocking device.
The operator panel is mounted on a movable arm fixed on the top of the equipment main frame, and it is therefore very easy the access to the extruder control parameters.
The TM20 Hi-Tech is characterized by the use of a control system based on a Siemens PLC series S7 and a graphic operator panel, touch version. This automation system allows the possibility to interface the machine with auxiliary equipments by means of field-bus.
The operator panel allows to control:
and to visualize:
The scale-up from this type of equipment is not immediate, but can be calculated by considering the following:
• Different factors of heat exchange (as a function of the barrels diameter)
• Feeding configuration for powders and/or liquids
Upon request, Maris can provide a calculation program for the estimation of the scale-up on their extruders.
